About me

Hi! Welcome! I am so glad you stopped by to find out a little about me. So, here goes…

I was born in Provincetown, the last town at the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts in the early 1970’s. At the time, my home town was a fishing community being permeated with artists, poets, writers, and hippies. It has gone through many evolution since then and is now a vibrant tourist economy focusing on its robust history, beautiful beaches, and gay and lesbian entertainment. It is a place that salutes individuality and celebrates individual expression. If you have not been there, I suggest you do. It is like nowhere else on earth.

My great grandfather started a restaurant in Provincetown back in the 1940’s. Everyone in my family has worked there at one point or another. I made lobster rolls and served clam chowder beside the rest of the family starting at a young age. By high school, I was writing schedules and training staff. Those summers working at the restaurant showed me the value of hard work, cooperation, and family. It also taught me how to work with all kinds of people from any background or lifestyle. Locals like myself worked side by side with artsy intellectuals, drag queens, and college kids coming to town to party for the summer. I learned more during those experiences than I think I will ever understand.

The family business is also where I met my husband. He came up to Cape Cod to work for the summer, got a job at my family’s restaurant and we moved in together shortly after. After finishing up my schooling, the husband and I headed to his hometown in Louisiana. We married there, and then moved down to New Orleans. It is here that I became a professional waitress and learned all the intricacies of the service industry. This is also where I learned how to balance working and playing. I danced the night away in New Orleans. I saw the world in New Orleans. I will always love New Orleans. But New Orleans was not where I was meant to land.

At the beginning of the 2000’s, my husband and I moved onto the next stop, South Carolina. We lived inside and around Charleston full time for about 20 years. We began running and owning businesses during this time. Charleston is where I grew up. It is where I bought a home, quit drinking, and decided to raise a family. Not long after our two boys were born, we moved out to Georgetown County. We spent all of the pandemic years out in rural South Carolina on our 80 acre farm. We tried our hands at raising farm animals and planting grand vegetable gardens. We spent our days swimming in the pond and walking in the woods. The boys quit school and began homeschooling. It was the perfect place to spend the solitude of pandemic life.

And now, I have come full circle. The family and I have moved to Cape Cod. I have made it back home to Massachusetts and am remembering more and more of my life than I had realized I had forgotten. It has been an interesting journey.
